LADY GAGA REVEALS DETAILS OF REVAMPEDMONSTER BALL TOUR FOR 2010

If you've been meaning to check out Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour, but haven't found the time yet, get thee to a Stub Hub, stat. Because after she wraps the U.S. leg of the jaw-dropping jaunt in January, Gaga is planning on scrapping the entire thing in favor of a brand-new show, which she'll unveil during her run of U.K. arena shows the following month.

It may sound crazy — and certainly, those close to the singer maintain it is — but, as Gaga sees it, re-vamping the Monster Ball Tour is just something she has to do, especially since the current version of the tour came together at the very last second.

"It's kind of funny because, after Kanye and I split up for this tour, I was really unsure if I could get a show together in time for my fans," Gaga told MTV News on Saturday, hours before her Monster Ball stop in San Diego. "But I didn't want to disappoint them and not tour over Christmas, and I had a new record coming out, so … what's exciting about this show is that I was able to put together something that, in truth, I never would have done if I had a longer amount of time.

"So, I put together a show that is so perfectly an avant-garde-performance-art-fashion installation, put in a blender and vomited on as a pop show. It's kind of this amazing theme of evolution, but it's in a garage, and me and all my friends are kind of exploring the music," she continued. "But it's a very vacuous space. It's a box, it's a runway, and we have to transform that space to feel like eight different acts throughout the entire show. But for the next version of the Monster Ball, which is going to be in February when I begin in the U.K. with my arena tour, I'm throwing out the stage. My team thinks I'm completely psychotic. But I don't f—ing care what they think."

Gaga wouldn't divulge too many secrets of the new Monster Ball, but she did say that Danish pop act Alphabeat will serve as the opening act. And she also hinted that her fans will be in for a very big show, in just about every conceivable way.

"Well, just to give you an idea, the stage is about four times the size of the one we're on now and conceptually, it's completely different," Gaga said. "One thing that has been lost over the past 10-15 years, in pop music, is the idea of showbiz. And this is definitely going to bring that back."

“Baby does her dance in the dark,” Lady Gaga sings, ” ’cause when he’s looking she falls apart.”

If you thought the pop superstar was referring to something as simple as a night out at the club in “Dance in the Dark,” from The Fame Monster, you don’t know Gaga very well — and you’re flat-out wrong. As she explained to The Los Angeles Times, the tune is about a rather more intimate experience — one that takes place not within the bass-blaring confines of a nightclub but between two people alone in a bedroom.

LADY GAGA ON BEING NAMED MTV’S WOMAN OF THE YEAR: ‘IT MEANS EVERYTHING’

MTV.com: No one had a bigger 2009 than Lady Gaga. Her hits were omnipresent. Her tours legendary. Her television appearances, well, they were definitely water-cooler material. And that's saying nothing about her outfits, her photo spreads or her art. So it was no surprise that last week, MTV News named her Woman of the Year.

On Saturday — hours before her triumphant Monster Ball tour stop in San Diego — we sat down with the reigning princess of pop to talk about the year that was, the year that will be (from the sound of things, she's not planning on resting in 2010) and what the Woman of the Year honor meant to her. Turns out, it meant an awful lot.

"It means everything," Gaga said. "I'm not only flattered but really excited. It makes me want to work harder, make better videos and better shows and better music all the time. I really appreciate all the love MTV has shown me, and the support. My performance at the VMAs, for me, was a turning point artistically, and I appreciated that you guys supported me so much."

And speaking of that blood-soaked, metaphor-heavy Video Music Awards performance (you remember it — the one where she was crushed by a chandelier, gushed gallons of blood and ultimately ascended to heaven?), Gaga counts it as one of her high points of 2009, not only because it set the stage for her current incarnation (the so-called "Fame Monster"), but because it was something she'd been dreaming about for years.

"I always dreamed about being a performer on the MTV awards. … More importantly, I wanted to be a performer, and I wanted my VMA performance to be my groundbreaking, life-changing performance," she said. "So everything that I'd been working on was leading up to that moment, and then after that I gave birth to this new album, The Fame Monster. It was an amazing moment for me."
